We get asked all the time, why the name “Oak Interactive”? What does it mean and how did we come up with it? It started as the brainchild of our Founder & CEO Moses Robles back in 2007. He made the decision to venture on his own and establish his own digitally focus agency primarily focusing on media planning and buying, SEO and the occasional creative work. If you would have asked him in those early days what the name meant he would have said that “roblesinteractive.com” made the domain longer than it had to be with one too many syllables. What he did was translate his last name “Robles” into English. Hence the name “Oak” Interactive was born.
Today the name means much more than just a last name of our Founder. Oak has grown, sorry for the pun, into something more than just a media shop. There has been a general shift in the way we do things as a company. Lately we have been doing more and more creative, thanks to the steady stream of new projects we’ve been fortunate to work on. Things really changed for us as a company when we were awarded “Best of Show for Print“ at the 2011 ADDY awards show. Our approach to creative has shifted our focus on great ideas, regardless of the medium. Digital is still in our DNA, but with the new infusion of talent and clients that are willing to take chances, we have grown into something else all together.
Oak, to us, means a collaboration of ideas, that allow us to tell our client’s story. In 2013 we will start transitioning to just being referred to as “Oak” for all communications. We believe that “Interactive” limits our potential with new partners as we do much more than just digital. Besides, everyone that works with us refers to us as Oak anyway. You can expect new and exciting things from us in 2013.
